Hawk Barry joined the firm in 2002, and was made a partner
in 2006. Mr. Barry has more than 10 years of consumer protection
litigation experience, and has served as trial counsel in
numerous auto fraud and Lemon Law cases resulting in punitive
damage and civil penalty awards across Southern California.
Most recently, Mr. Barry obtained a jury verdict in favor of a consumer against a car dealership for backdating a purchase contract. Mr. Barry handles both individual consumer claims and class-action
claims, and has helped vehicle purchasers recover millions
of dollars through settlement and trial. He has also helped
California consumers by obtaining injunctions prohibiting
fraudulent practices from multiple dealerships. Trial successes
include Gains v. Bosch Kia, Graciano v. Robinson
Ford Sales, and McClanahan v. Fleetwood and Freightliner. Mr. Barry was also the lead attorney in Graciano v. Robinson Ford Sales, Inc. (2005) 144 Cal.App.4th 140, and Lewis v. Robinson Ford Sales, Inc. (2007) 156 Cal.App.4th 359.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Barry worked at a national
law firm where he gained experience in complex commercial
litigation involving commercial fraud, unfair business practices,
and antitrust issues. Mr. Barry served as co-trial counsel
for the plaintiffs in United States of America ex rel. William
I. Koch v. Koch Industries, Inc. (N.D. Okla., 1999), which
resulted in a jury verdict entitling the United States to
receive over $100 million in civil penalties. Mr. Barry received
his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1992, and
graduated from the University of Southern California Law Center
in 1995. Mr. Barry has been admitted to practice before both
state and federal courts in California since 1995.
